Sima Stillings, a psychotherapist and community advocate, resides in Washington DC. He is a licensed independent clinical social worker, member of Academy of Certified Social Workers and holds credentials as a Master Addiction Counselor as well as a substance abuse professional. He has been delivering harm reduction messages to groups and individuals in mental health centers, substance abuse treatment facilities, schools and community wide events since 1994. His core emphasis on planning and management has prepared a path to deliver state of the art Power Point presentations on harm reduction topics such as: Reducing Harm Harm Reduction Made Simple, Alcohol and Other Drugs 101, HIV/STD’s What You Need to Know in the New Millennium, The Realities and Myths of Dance/Party Drugs Exploring Analogue/Designer Drugs and many more. He maintains a private private practice with special emphasis on co-occurruing disorders. The convenient office location is near the Potomac Avenue Metro stop. Referrals for mental health problems-depression, anxiety, compulsions, alcohol and substance abuse issues are gladly taken.Referrals for Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) are also encouraged as a S.A.P. (Substance Abuse Professional Credentialed).
Sima Stillings is a licensed clinical social worker and master addiction counselor in private practice. His national as well as international experience spans from San Francisco General Hospital Cocaine Treatment Program, The Department of Social Services in Helsinki, Finland to the Charleston Center Opiate Treatment Program. He is the founder of the Harm Reduction Psychotherapy Institute of Washington, DC. He specializes in working with those who have both psychiatric/mental health struggles as well as current substance/alcohol use. His passion is focusing on the underserved—those active users of substances or alcohol who have not responded to traditional abstinence based approaches. He is a dynamic and people-oriented team player who delivers state of the art trainings in the area of drug and alcohol pharmacology, hepatitis awareness and advocacy as well as co-occurring disorders with 2,000 hours of group/training experience since 1987. He has served on The South Carolina State Planning Committee, is an active member of National Association of Social Workers, a member of Academy of Certified Social Workers, a national certified Substance Abuse Professional serving Department of Transportation referrals as well as member of National Association of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counselors Training Academy.
